| The Butte County Deputy Sheriff's Association holds an annual fundraising event. The
proceeds generated by the fundraising event are used by the DSA to make charitable and worthwhile donations which benefit our community. In years past,
the DSA has used the funds to:
* Sponsor youth sporting teams and events;
* Sponsor and promote cultural, social and educational events;
* Provide support to the the survivors of Law Enforcement Officers killed in the line of duty.
During our annual fundraising event, the DSA is assisted by a fundraising organization who is authorized to make telephone calls to potential donors and
solicit donations on behalf of the DSA. Unfortunately, there have been occasions when unscrupulous individuals have attempted to dupe citizens out of
money by fraudulently representing themselves as a member of a law enforcement group seeking donations. The individuals authorized to solicit donations on
behalf of the DSA have been instructed to provide the people they contact with the information necessary to verify the legitimacy of the call.
Individuals involved in scams are typically unwilling to provide call back numbers or other information which would allow the potential donor to verify
the legitimacy of the call. If you have been contacted by someone requesting a donation on behalf of the BUTTE COUNTY DEPUTY SHERIFF'S ASSOCIATION and you
believe the call is fraudulent, please contact us before you send any money or provide any personal information. (Email :
